You will need to present identification in the form of a valid driver's licence or passport at the test centre. The vehicle should be in a presentable, clean condition. You will also need to bring the appropriate fee for your vehicle type — check current fees on the CVRT website.
If your vehicle fails, you will need to carry out a retest within 21 days. Fortunately, we have qualified mechanics on-hand at SDC who can assist with whatever failures appear on the test — meaning you can have your vehicle tested and repaired on the same day.

All commercial vehicles over one year old require an annual CVRT test. This includes HGVs (trucks and trailers over 3,500kg), LGVs (vans and jeeps up to 3,500kg GVW), and ADR vehicles (those carrying hazardous goods). If you're unsure whether your vehicle requires testing, call us on 021 234 4160.
The CVRT inspection covers all safety-critical systems including: brakes, lights and markings, wheels and tyres, steering and suspension, chassis and underbody, tachograph, speed limiter, exhaust emissions, electrical systems, glass and mirrors, and body/load security. Our inspectors follow the full RSA checklist.
Yes. One of the key advantages of SDC is that we have both a fully equipped CVRT test centre and a comprehensive repair workshop on the same site. If your vehicle fails its test, our mechanics can carry out the necessary repairs on the same day, minimising downtime for you and your business.
We are NSAI authorised for digital tachograph calibration and speed limiter calibration. These are required to be carried out at regular intervals and must be done by an authorised centre. Call us on 021 234 4160 to book a tachograph or speed limiter appointment.
